Best Fishing Headlight

I had a nice Birthday not long back an received a a LED Lenser SEO7 headlight as a present.

Now I have over the years had a few but this little lightweight packs a punch IMO.

I certainly noticed the lack of battery pac and new technology since my last few efforts, and I am now in the market to get another one for the fishing buddy.

Just wondered about other if not better opinions as there appear 100s on the net.

Not small but I love my LED Lenser H14 for fishing and hunting!

Used to use a Black Diamond Icon, but the H14 sh*ts all over it!

Sure there are better ones out there though.

Led Lenser all the way H14R is the best IMHO H7R pretty good too. Both much brighter, tougher than many others I have had. I havent tried those new SEOs so can't compare.

SEO I was given is battery operated

Mon, 2013-11-11 16:11

I have a recharger for the batteries, but since I bought it I replaced the original cheapies for 2 duracell's. Only AAA batts so light as a feather. Used it at least every 4th night around the house as a spot light (chasing possums for the kids and the visitors as we have a colony off ringtails that are rare but not in our place!!!)

I am amazed at the beam this creates, and also the battery life.

But wondered if there was anything even better. And the Seo7 aint cheap at about $120+, but punches out 220Lumins.

I've tried a few over the years and currently use the H14R which kicks arse! However if flies and midgies are a problem i use the el cheapo energizer headlamp on the red led which for some reason the bugs can't see and don't swarm your face like they do with a white light

if fishing the new moon or a cloudy night there is little or no moonlight to be able to see . . .some spots i fish the street lights give off enough light otherwise if dark a decent headlamp makes life so much easier. The H14 adjusts from flood to spot in a simple inch pull which makes it handy when trying to see and land your unknown fish 20m + away in the surf. I also have a black diamond which i thought was great until i discovered the H14. jmo anyway. cheers

Sort of agree

Tue, 2013-11-12 11:56

I have a pretty decent spot light (or so I thought) - old fashioned and 530lumins.

I looked at the LED Sensor HD14 and it is something like 660lumins. WTF do you want to blind the fish or catch it. The flood feature in the SEO dims this, but I dont think I need a spot light on my noggin.

One look at the Mrs and she is blind for life, which might be good with this aging face

Thu, 2013-11-14 03:15

Was a guy at a jetty fishing recently and he had a head lamp that he could dim the bean or even turn off by just raising his hand up to the light, particularly easy he said when ya hands are all covered in bait or guts or shit as he put

dunno the name of it but it shat all over my $25 bunnings catalogue buster!

these models mentioned above, how much do they go for?

the H7 should be between $70-100

I just thought I might mention I have several H7's and a H14 and never use it the H7 is actually alot better, lighter, lasts longer and easier to use.  plus it doesnt have a strap over the top of your head. and the H14 takes ages to charge up

I leave my H14 on top of the fridge for when I use the BBQ at night

my $4 ebay headlamp does the trick no worries.

i bought 5 of them and they are all over the place, glove boxes, work bag, a couple of spares. Dropping one in the drink or smacking your head on something sure doesnt burn a hole in the wallet. The one im using now is 3 months old and i havent changed batteries or had any problems. Low and high light setting, wide and narrow beam. pretty much does everything i need.
