used a tld50 in 450m and it wasn't that bad.
the rod is very important IMO but if your gonna stick it in a holder then it doesn't matter.
as opsrey says a deck winch would be something well worth the thought.
lets go fishing!
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.
Yep electric reels like the Daiwa Megatwin 1000 will definitley make your life easier. Especially when doing recon in order to find good fish. If you have no spots and are blind dropping then the 3 minutes it takes the electric to wind up an empty rig is much more time efficient than the 10-20 min it will take you to wind up an empty rig manually. We do remind customers that most electric reels are designed to be "Assist" reels. They are not electric winches and can be damaged if you continuously use the electric motor to fight big fish. If an electric reel is something you would be interested in the the Daiwa Megatwin 1000 is the way to do it. It comes with a larger drag stack and a 2 speed gear box.
As for manual reels then one of the best is the Jigging Master Powerspell series. The PE8 and PE10 reels are ideal sizes. Plenty of drag pressure to slow up big fish and has lower gear ratio for more low down torque and less fatigue on your arms when cranking back in rigs or fish. Another cheaper and effective option is the Shimano Tyrnos 30 2 speed. The lower ratio on this reel helps aid you in winding aswell.

How deep is deep?
How often are you looking to fish deep?
Perhaps something big in the Alvey range.

Lol
At an Alvey.
Any decent jigging style overhead like an accurate, saltiga, jigging master etc. are what would be most commonly used.
As long as you can get at least 500m of min pe3/4 you'll be fine

That Bass
was on 65lb Tuffline but I know Tony (Southcity104) and Dougy (Wangler) both regularly deep drop with pe3.
Bare in mind that most decent pe3 braids are 45lb+

Honestly,
electric.
It's by no means sportsfishing and after the first couple of minutes they generally start floating up.
If your looking for fish and need to do numerous drops you'll certainly appreciate the electric.
