Crew....
In the market for a new Tinny ( good second hand would do )
Needs to be roof toppable as we are buying a van to tow for trips away.......
Ideas?
Do you crew know anyone that RT's a 4.0mtr hornet?
They'd be ideal i would have thought but not sure how doable they are to roof top??
It will be going on a sturdy aluminum canopy that will handle a couple of hundred kgs if needed....

I had a 3.7m on the roof of my 200 series for a half lap... Not sure you would want to go much bigger for car topping. It also killed the fuel economy with any kind of headwind. One time we gave up after only 150km as we were sucking 25/ltrs per 100km.

I ran a bluefin 345 trekka
I ran a bluefin 345 trekka on top of a prado in the NT. Could put it up there solo, stable little tinnies with a V nose and flat bottom. Fish 3 blokes out of it in the rivers and dams no dramas!

Cleveland did a 14 footer
Are they still around? It was quite light, I could actually get it on the top of the Patrol by myself , but I was a bit stronger then Good fishing rig, heaps of room.

Did it with a quinnie dart
I had a small winch mounted on the roo bar and made up a couple of rollers for the roof rack and it was easy to get it on and off by myself.
Carried 3 adults with a 15 hp johno no worries with a good amount of free board on lake argyle and a few big inland waters in Qld.
Never went in the ocean I have to say.

So i made a couple of quick
So i made a couple of quick calls today to find out what a bare hull quinny hornet 400 was worth....
Rang a dealer in Mandurah, spoke to a bloke who tried to sound like he knew what he was talking about by telling me he knew someone that had carpet put in and a casting deck made but if perhaps i knew a carpenter i could have that organsied myself at a later date.....All i wanted was a bare hull perhaps with wide gunwals....
His best price was $5200 gst inc
Rang Bunbury, bloke seemed genuine and helpful.... $3700 gst inc....
WTF!!
Pretty tempting at $3700, If i was to car top that i think i'd need a folding trailer to help shift it or it would turn into a pain in the ass so thats the next bit of research is to google folding boat trailers...

Bulldog trailers
There used to be a mod in midland that made fold up trailers you could hook up on to the back of your van, they were light as and good to tow boat (quinine dart) up to 80 ks.
Lift them off and you where on your way in a very short time, we carted one around on our trip and when we were on a site for a while we left the boat on the trailer as we were going fishing every other day. I don't know if they are still in business.

Mangrove Jack trailers
Have a look at the mangrove jack trailers. It’s an aluminium collapsible trailer with a total weight of 38kg. lighter and easier to store then the bulldog trailers. Just doesn’t have suspension.

Real-ezy
I've been down this path as well
real-ezy in queensland also make a high quality folding trailer.
One even has suspension.
Occasionally you see them up for sale once they’ve done the lap of Aus.

I went a 370 Dart HDW
Seats are welded in, full transom with 20Hp Suzi electric start. Its on a trailer now but later on in life the plan is for it to be on top of either a camper or pop top van behind the 200.
Good little rig, had it a couple of kays offshore and up a few rivers, no complaints.

I think i've come to my senses....
Thinking i'll keep the 4.2 WB Dory i've got and add about a 3.7 of one of the above mentioned species.....
Seems stupid to get rid of the Dory and pay more for something i've basically already got and it not being a whole lot more user friendly....
