Beverley & Surrounds - Avon River
Submitted by buschy on Tue, 2016-05-31 23:57
Hi guys - will be spending a lot of time up that way in the coming years. Figure there has to be plenty of redfin around. Anyone have any advice / what I can expect and any tips for up that way to get me started?
Cheers

Ask the locals but I think
Ask the locals but I think you will find that the river is too salty even for blind mullet.
Get friendly with some farmers that have dams and you may get permission to get some Koonacs.

Avon river
Sorry to say it's as dead as the dead sea as far as I know, a long long time back it held fish but not that I've heard in the last 40 odd years

redfin
I think that the closest redfin are in Lake Leschenaulta -AKA Chidlows Lake -used to be there in my teenage years as we got them at scout camps when I was a young bloke.

Avon river fish
My late Grandad talked about fishing for a type of cobbler in the Avon between Beverley and York, probably in the 50's. Nothing big there now I'm sure. Just minnows probably.
