Beware of tax scam going around fellas
Today ive been receiving a recorded message on my mobile from a guy with a slight german accent telling me he is calling on behalf of the commonwealth director of public prosecutions and that a warrant for my arrest will be issued shortly regarding non-payment of taxes. The number comes up on my phone as "02 8310 7470" after the threat he tells you to ring the number to discuss the matter further - I presume that's when they get you to pay money to stop your arrest warrant being issued. I called the tax dept. and they confirmed its a scam to get you to send money (I thought it was probably a scam when I received the first call but decided to call tax office on my lunch break) Another number used by the scammer is "02 6100 3027". I just want to give my fellow fishwreckers the heads-up about this crap going on cheers dave

It's about that time of the year for all the low lifes to crawl out from under their rocks and try their luck with all kinds of crap "here comes the taxman etc"

I had the tax office call me
I had the tax office call me legit last year and there was quite a stand off while we tried to both verify each other lol. I actually had the guy laughing as he could see my points of him being a scammer. My accountant wasn't impressed as all correspondance is meant to go through her. Oh he just wanted to tell me I owed them money surprise surprise.

Yea I had the same message on my phone when I got home today. Could hardly understand the message as it sounded very muffled.
Anyway, I knew straight away it was a scam attempt and thought I would grab a beer, sit down and call back to have a bit of fun....phoned the number and no answer or even an answering machine ....a little disappointed actually....
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!

A good mate of mine works overseas and lives in Perth. He was going through an audit by ATO that was getting pretty complicated. I was down the pub having a beer with him when his other half called in tears saying an arrest warrent is being issued and she needs his Visa details to pay the tax asap.
If she had a card in her possesion then they would have got one of that 1% there and then. People under stress do stupid shit.
Sometimes when the water is quiet, you can hear the fish laughing at you !

"Dear Customer,"
"After reviewing our payment server we found the following error, your monthly billing balance was paid in twice (202.42 * 2) an amount of 404.84 AUD. in order to receive your money back you are requested to visit your account immediately and complete the claim.
Then we will refund the second charge of 202.42 AUD to your bank account."
It's a load of crap!

Yep Moking , got the same one last week , with official telstra multi coloured letter head, it really did
look very convincing, right up to when I erased it.
Nigerian lotterys, tax refunds , you just won a i phone in jamaica , I have had them all , I think
what the scammers have done unwittingly , is made us call bulls...t on half of it , and misstrust the rest.
The day I really do win the Nigerian lottery , I am gunna be so pis...d I didnt collect!!

over night I had an email from PayPal telling me they have detected "Unusual" activity on my PayPal account and have restricted my account until they hear from me.
The email looks fairly legit however simple things like who it's addressed to can give you some clues. It was Dear ...then just my email address instead of my name and requested I click on the link to check my account !!
Never click on email links.....ever.!!
I logged onto my PayPal account and all was good...no problems at all.
This is the thirsd time PayPal has been used to try and scam me.
It did look legit and I can see how people could be fooled into just clicking the link and into the hands of these scum.
My fishing spots are so secret........... even the fish don't know where they are !!

Don’t get conned like I did with the Aldi’s scam particularly during school holidays .. having to slip in a dollar for a trolley then push it 100m back to your car then out of the blue , a little fella around 11yrs old who closely resembles one of the security guards says “ Hello sir ,can I push your trolley back for you “ .. note to self, get them to push it to the car in the first place as well in future .

Scams, I've recently had to change me email address after being hacked by our African friends. They somehow installed some untraceable software that sends out hundreds of spam from my server. Even now after deleting that account it's still happeneing as they had gotten hold of my contacts, the pricks even address the emails from me. I would shoot these pricks just to get some satisfaction for the stress they've caused.

I have two mobile phones.
I have two mobile phones. ... one with data for Internet use and the other my actual phone and the ph number that I actually know has no data whats so ever.... it has no Internet at all can't even receive picture messages only basic texts..... this phone does not receive any crank calls.
The tablet with the data does and thats the one with all the scam calls on it.... so when my tablet rings I just ignore it as even I don't know the phone number
