the aussie record is around 12.1kg. But if you include Bluefish (which is what the yanks call them) then a bloke called James Hussey caught one in 1972 that weighed 31lbs 12oz, @ 14.4kg!
i got a call from a mate yesterday rubbin it in how he just got 6 massive greenbacks up north, biggest of which went 104cm... without mentioning the 17kg mulla as a by catch... im already packin my stuff and planning to leave on thursday or possibly wednesday. yay cant wait
to think that even at that size the locals don't care. I've seen some hooters landed at Kalbarri rivermouth/Chinamans, @7-8kg. My best is still only around 5kg.
Have got two that made the old double figures, one at ten from Rocky Point and a fifteen pounder from South Conto beach years back.
The hard luck was here in Carnarvon about 2 yrs back when I hooked on to one about a metre long not more that 30 feet from shore, it took a quick run then jumped clear of the water giving me a good look at it and the lure flying free, bugger, I would have let it go anyway but not as quick as that.
62cm off the rocks at the Cockburn Power Boat Association. Used to be the most amazing landbased spot.. Saw quite a few mulloway, big snapper and sharks caught off the end there. Dead now

Luck
A lot of the time its the "luck of the draw", being in the right place at the right time and of course the amount of time you spend at it.
Give it time and you will get a POB thats up there with them.
