Black bream sesh

Went down to my secret bream spot in the Murray last night to try upgrade my pb. Everything was looking good high tide dark full moon and heaps of bait in the water. Set up and within a 15 mins the drag went skitso. I thought I was onto another horse of a black bream but after a swim to pull the big girl out of the snags and another 5 mins it finally kick the bucket. It went 900mm. After that I got broken off twice and manage a 550mm and a coulple nice bream 42 and 44. Great feed of fish had the bream in bread crumbs shallow fried in butter with mash and veggies.

 mullys are a fast growing

Wed, 2015-03-25 21:21

mullys are a fast growing fish, bream on the other hand are not, and you have killed 2 prime breeders and probably loads more, well done.

Oh my god. He didn't break

Thu, 2015-03-26 01:37

Oh my god. He didn't break any laws, whats the problem? Bream are in no way an endangered species and some people need to stop treating them like the God they are not. Fun fish to catch and good to eat. Get off your high horse buddy. Nice work Timwoody your spot seems to produce the goods!

the fact that they are a slow

Wed, 2015-03-25 21:45

the fact that they are a slow growing fish, and are still being caught at that size, shows that the stocks havent been abused. like tadpole said, he didnt break any laws. the next good size one i catch i will be keeping - just to try on the table, because i havnt yet. i have caught between 20-30 in what little fishing i have done in the last 12-18 months and not kept a single one.

The murray river is a cracking river for some big bream, and there is plenty of them down there, but to be nailing good mullys and thumping bream in the same sesh, thats pulling the piss. Haha top effort im guessing you would be keeping that spot a secret.

The Murray is full of big bream

Thu, 2015-03-26 16:42

ive been fishing this river for years and I can tell yA it's only got better. First you need to know how to catch big bream it's not that simple. Most of the bream I catch are between 36-50cms and on any day I can get them easily it comes down to experience. You do get lots of little ones but if you let it sit the big one will come along. I use crab for bait So the pickers can fuk with it and u don't lose your bait and it gives the big horse a chance. You have to let the fish take the bait and run. Sometimes they'll pick it up and drop it and fuk with it for 30mins or more before they smash it. I've lost a couple of rods too. I've hooked bream that are well over 50cms and lost them at the boat.

I don't no why u would take 6 piss ant bream that are just size. By the time u fillet them u get not much off. I only take 2 bream over 40cms for a beautiful feed and everything else goes back. Bream reach maturity in only a couple years and legal size in 5-6years so go get £#<kd if you think I'm doing a bad deed. Just because you can't catch a bream doesn't mean the fishery is fuk peanut

Nice

Nice captures mate, I don't think you have to explain anything about the bream. You did nothing wrong except post some good pictures and great advice on the bream in the Murray. I don't keep them myself but appreciate your reports and enjoy seeing your post.

Only problem I have , is you are giving away too many secret about bait, you can,t catch Bream on crabs

Cheers Grant .

 It depends, I personally

Thu, 2015-04-02 21:03

It depends, I personally don't keeo black bream for reasons. It is a personal decision though, I don't give if someone keeps a black bream. If you like them, go ahead. But that is as long as you stay within the law
