Blue Eye Tevalla - Friday's " Super Deep " fish!!!
With all my Fishing WA (TV) filming commitments all done I was keen to head offshore!
My mate Shaun ( FW-Shabba) said I’m over worked of late so get me out fishing....please!!!
I said no probs what do you prefer to target ..... he said “ Super Deep fish" as I haven’t done that in like 18 months and I need to get some quality fish in the freezer!!!
Ok doke.....with the forecast looking pleasant the offshore green light is a goer!!!
On the way out I pulled my two cray-pots and got some crays (mixure of whites and reds) then proceeded offshore to the “Super deep” waters (200m-500m)
I looked around for fish on the Furuno sounder and after a short time found a school of Blue-eye Trevalla and I said to Shabba ........drop your baits!
Down went the slimy mackerel baits in 360m of water and it wasn’t long before the baits hit the ground. The Blue eye bit hard and as per usual I said to Shaun let them take the bait and wait for the double header!!!
That he did and with a full load up on the Jigging Master rod, Shaun was onto a double header!
Shaun's First " Blue-eye Trevala" and a double header at that!!
Shabba said your turn, I put on my ‘ Super Deep 1kg Jig” and dropped down......within seconds I was on and it was fighting like a solid Blue-eye indeed!!
After a good fight (manual wind up) I boated my solid Blue-eye Trevala on the ‘ Super Deep 1kg Jig”
I did a second drift over the same school of Blue-eye with the identical jig and whammo I was on again!
3 Drifts for 4 fish ...happy days.....a great day on the water with a good mate
Gear used;
* Daiwa Megatwin electric reel (With JM drag upgrade)
* Jigging Master Evolution Titanium 400 overhead rod
* Berkley whiplash Braid 80lb
* Oceanside Custom Super Deep Rig (Shabba)
* 48oz sinker (drift wasnt too fast)
* Whole slimy mackerel baits (butterfly/tail cut out)
* Super Deep 1kg Japanese Jig (Ryan)

The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.

Nice work Ryan!
Good onya - Shabba would have been in very safe and experienced hands for sure - that double header at 360m would have been a painful introduction LOL.
Soon to be de "dreamweaver" ed!

Super Deep!
It certainly was a great day on the water and despite the good weather I only seen one boat fishing the super deep well to my north who headed towards me and fished where I was so being a big ocean I moved to other marks. Once reckon was done I headed to another spot and got onto fish straight away
It was great to see a good mate (Shaun/Shabba) get his first Blue-eye Trevalla and a double header at that was a big buzz for me. Then it was me getting super deep fish on jig which made my day!!
Snappermiles......ha ha as per when I'm filming, on FW or in my shop people are always asking what gear am I using so its automatic =)
Yo harro......I'm using a Daiwa Megatwin electric reel (With JM drag upgrade) and the rod is the Jigging Master Evolution Titanium 400 overhead rod. Its parabolic with plenty of get-up and go and you can work the 750 & 1kg Super Deep jigs with that rod......easy as. I dont like the bent butt rods for fighting fish hense I use the JM jig rod. Pop in and say hello mate, those jigs work well so drop it on their nose and they will eat it but sometimes you have to work at it ..... I will give you more info when your in!
Soupster......I will see you very soon mate and we'll get out there!!
Thanks fellas for all your comments

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Thank's again Ryan. Yea it
Thank's again Ryan. Yea it was a top day on the water, & knocking another fish off my list, the last few trip"s out 2 the super deep with you, I got some nice fish including a 26 kg puka & 34kg bass, so 2 get my double off blue eye was awesome. My next challange is 2 get some super deep fish on jig"s, so need 2 pop in the shop & grab a few, they look & work awesome, after watching you get them blue eye's on jig"s..
If any 1 is intrested in heading out 4 super deep fish, I would recommend poping in 2 Oceanside & talking 2 the boy's,Ryan has been doing the super deep for over 4 year's now, his time on the water & recon have def paid off, with the fish he's being catching & fish his deckie's have caught. They have got the super deep rig's & a wide variety off jig's in the shop, so sure they will help you's out with some tip's........ ! Cheers
