What do you thing, am I right? I can never tell the differance between them and spango's. Think it is a blue lined due to the blue lines going all the way to the eye.......had a blotchy red throat also
thanks

i couldn't make out the scale
i couldn't make out the scale on the sticker, i thought it was around 32cm. 45cm is a bloody good fish and anything above 50cm is a horse from what i've seen

Blue Lined for me. Just as
Blue Lined for me. Just as tasty as the Spanglies I say. Spanglies have a longer nose and are generally a bit lighter in colour with more vivid yellow on them. Not a huge amount of Spanglies around Hedland either.

It is a blue lined for unsure, but like feral said
the NW snappers can easily be mistaken. IMO I still think it is a bluelined, but the reddish tail is confusing me a little. Either way some nice fillets of Blue line on the plate tonight, with crispy double cooked chippies.
Yummier fish than lots give it cred for.

Hey, just come back from
Hey, just come back from Coral Bay and from experience and from the Nor' West Fish ID i'd say its actually a Spangled Emperor. (I may be wrong) But the blue lined emperors have a lot more brown in them. Here's the link: http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/docs/pub/NorWestSnapper/NWSnapperIDGuide.pdf have a look at page 6, and compare the Blue-Lined to the Spangled.
It also has a much straighter head than the blue lines I have seen unless it is more mature.
We brought a small Spangled in that looked identical to this and the Mahi Mahi blokes said that it was just a spangled.
But I may be wrong.

Sorry mate but there is no
Sorry mate but there is no doubt that the fish is a blue lined emporer, look back at the link in your post and check out the tail area of the fish, you'll see the reddish colour of the tail that gives it away. The picture in that guide is not a very good one for the blue lined. The ones you got off Coral Bay would probably no doubt be Spangos. I seem to find that you'll encounter Spangos in locations where there is deep water near by like Ningaloo, The Monties etc, in closer to shore over shallow water you're more likely to encounter the Blue Lines.

Yeah mate, no worries
Yeah mate, no worries- as I say, I'm no expert. Maybe the charter bloke was wrong (or didn't see it properly) that looks nearly identical to the one we caught: which we thought was a blue line. The fisheries' drawings are shocking and the Spangled in the book in fairness doesn't look like the ones you pull out of the water. And as you said mate, we were fishing in 40-85 meters for most of the trip.
Cheers
