they are found in a lot of tropical seas and only grow to 25cm apparently , a couple of the juvenile photo's on the net looked similar but all the adult ones didn't quite fit the profile (they were all much more elongated????) and different colours??

five lined snapper

Five-lined Snapper - Lutjanus quinquelineatus

Also known as Bluebanded Sea Perch and Fiveline Snapper, Five-lined Snapper have a yellow body with five iridescent blue horizontal lines on the body.  A round black blotch (sometimes diffuse) the size of the eye is on the back below the soft dorsal fin rays but above the lateral line.  The fins are bright yellow.

Five-lined Snapper grow to 38cms in length.

In Australia, Five-lined Snapper are found from Shark Bay Western Australia around the tropical north, then south to central New South Wales.  They inhabit sheltered lagoons and exposed outer slope coral reefs in small groups in water usually 30-40 metres deep.  They feed on fish and crustaceans.

barred soapfish

Fishwreckapedia -

Barred Soapfish - Diploprion bifasciatum

Barred Soapfish are deep bodied and yellow with a black bar on the head passing from the dorsal area through the eye to the chin, and a wide black bar on the body from the dorsal area to the anal fin.  The soft rayed dorsal, anal and caudal fins are bright yellow.  There is a deep notch between the spinous and soft rayed dorsal fin.   Their body mucus can mix with seawater to create a soap suds effect, hence the name.

Barred Soapfish grow to 38cms in length.

They are highly regarded as aquarium fish, however should not be mixed with other fish due to the toxic soaping effect.

In Australia, Barred Soapfish are found from south west Western Australia, around the tropical north and south to Moreton Bay South Queensland.
