bluewater postponed till Sunday

Too windy...ah well time to unload the boat again and crawl back into bed. At least I don;t have a hangover, unlike some of you guys.

Kick off

Andy

Do you know what the departure time and when the boats have to be in for the Bluewater classic

We are hoping to avoid the ramps at that time :)

Not suprised

Can't say I'm too suprised with that. Sure the Rotto Swim would have been canned as well. Ahhh, well, hopefully tomorrow is a better forecast.

Forecast

Sat, 2007-02-17 10:45

Sunday: E/SE winds 8/13 knots tending SW'ly 10/15 knots late morning then shifting S/SW 13/18 knots during the afternoon. Seas 1.0m to 1.5m. Swell 3.0m to 3.5m, easing.

Going to have a lot of southerly in it tomorrow, might be a bit uncomfy, but still fishable. Best be an early start in the morning to get the best of the conditions I would think.

Bluewater starts 7am

Sat, 2007-02-17 11:52

Boats will be launching full on from about 5-30am I would think. I'll be down there by about 6-00am.

Yes Rotto swim was cancelled.

Cheers

Youch

What a swell today!!!! Easterlies 15-20, 3m+ swell, would not have liked trying to get out the Ocean Reef markers!!!

Was it even held and how did everyone go if you did?

We got 1 4kg southern bluefin, 1 4kg dhu and a red snapper. Very very quiet, but over each swell the lead lifted off the bottom about 2 meters and the easterly which eventually died out punished us early. Also got 5 small pinkies (20cm) on the way in at a little lump, released of course.

Dunno mate

Only just beats working! ;) It was pretty horrid out there for the first few hours. Nup, still waiting to hear from Mr Mac, guess he can't be too far away, unless he won the comp and is at the bar shouting.

No such luck

Sun, 2007-02-18 20:10

We had the worst day out ever!!!!

Andy "Nofish" Mac, with his "one fish" crew.

Rory got a nice KG but that was it.

I released a dhuie and a pinky and a big whiskery shark. I lost 7 rigs, 5 to the reef / swell combination and 2 to unstoppables, one of which was definately a dhuie by the way it fought.

We had the one fish on board at 2-00pm so decided to stay out as the conditions improved and missed the weigh in.

The run has finally come to an end, but that's fishing for you.

Cheers

Andy Mac

Would dhu believe it................

Yeah it was tough going out there Andy....I still can't stand up without swaying from side to side, I think the swell has permanently affected my equilibrium!

Oh well not very often we get beaten by the day and come home with an empty esky.

There is always next time, fish on!

I was bouncing off the shower walls last night, could hardly stand up straight.

Bit of bad luck about the fishing boys, we only just managed to put one in the esky, but it was hard going!!
