Boat building advice needed
Submitted by RohanKok on Fri, 2021-06-11 08:23
Hi all,
I have decided to get a new ally boat built. Idea is to get a 7.6m islander cab. Seriously considering going with Genesis Craft for various reasons.
Just want to see if anyone out there has any advice for or against using Genesis. It is a big investment and I want to make the right decision here.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Cheers.

Not Islander Cab but
I do have a 7.7m Genesis cabin. One of the first built....it's now 19 years old. On my third set of motors....set 2 and 3 were/are twin 150hp 4 stroke Yamahas. These are pretty well perfect for it.
2.7m beam
From a purely fishing point of view, best boat I have ever fished out of. Heaps of room, fish 4 if you need to, plenty of rod holders on the cabin and around the gunnels, good kill tank, cray tipper/winch. Just about 3.5 ton completely full, so (just) legally towable with 200 series Landcruiser. I tow it to Denham for Shelter Bay trip each year.
Rides a bit hard, most glass boats are better :-). But easy to run up on the beach at Shelter Bay and can take the knocks a glass boat can't. 7.7m glass boat at 2.7m beam would be hell heavy.
I've been out in some god aweful conditions and always felt safe.
What would I buy next? Nothing, mine is just fine, but if I had $250k burning a hole in my pocket I'd still go Ali. Would it be Genesis? Maybe, but I think there are better out there.

You don't need that much
for what I have, but you'd need $150k for a new one I would think.
$250k is top of the line with all fruit
