I have been with RAC for many years and have noticed the last few renewals (I have 6 policies with them) that the premium stays much the same the odd one goes up here and there but the agreed value decreases so I made a few phone calls and its rather amazing what they can do to your premium with just 1 phone call I saved over $600 over all my policies by asking a few questions.
I have a spreadsheet to track all of ours. I ring every one of them on each renewal and offer them the chance to leave the price the same or I will shop around and not hesitate to change. The RAC is the only company that doesn't always warrant a call each year.
Thanks sunshine, I'll check it out. I hate it when these Aholes hike there premiums by way over CPI for no reason... Seems RAC are still the cheapest by quite a margin even with a 13% anual increase...
Club Marine (who I had been insured with for decades) would not cover my new Assassin whilst it was being towed up from Bunbury without a motor. I had a motor fitted at Chivers, Club Marine wouldn't cover it without a motor installed. Trident would not cover the boat north of the tropic of Capricorn between .. I think November to March (so watch out for that clause), there goes any chance of heading to Exmouth at the end of the year. RAC didn't want to know about it due to the agreed value.
Nautilus was no probs, premium is good they also have the magazine similar to Club Marine.
Unlike all the others on this forum i would not insure with RAC. Very sneaky with claims and very difficult to get a proper job done. Nothing but hasles. I am with QBE and could not be more satisfied .
OK so RAC is agreed value and has been good in the past and I've never had a problem with a claim with them or any insurer for that matter.
They spiked my premium by 13% with no change in any other aspect and no boat claims ever.
Club marine has an identical premium but much higher access and doesn't seem to agree on value.
Most other quotes have been about 40-50% higher.
I tried trident and they were about 3% less, however they have and excess of $500 or 3% of the value in addition to the basic access for any claims related to submersion. This seems a bit ridiculous to me. I have insurance to protect against mostly very large loss and in the case of a small boat submersion is a large risk.
So If I can get the value agreed, I'll probably go with club marine. I like to make a stand when and why I change insurance when companies get greedy, putting on here and social media as well, hopefully they'll see it.

x 3 for RAC - Boat and cars.
x 3 for RAC - Boat and cars. Best deal and they don't try to gaff you every year with a 5-8% premium rise..
