Boat rod for a Penn SSV9500

So, I don't do much rod/reel fishing and the rod/reels that I have are better of in a museum. So i chucked it all out and bought 3 Penn SSV 9500 but what stumped me was what rod to buy! I'm looking around $200 each. And the shop I got reels from had 30 rods that had no flex under 100 bucks and 2 rods that were 500 bucks. Nothing in between

I'm not keen on broom handles as it needs to have a bit of flex also ill only be using them in 40-80m water depth and chasing dhueys/pinks probly run 30-50 lb braid any tips or what rods are the go or if anyone makes custom rods in bunno let me know. Oh and I don't want it to be to long just a nice short boat rod!

Any ideas?

Not sure how long is too long for you.
But Fin nor do a model, Offshore jig.
Comes in a 50lb 6'0" they have quiet a soft tip for the rating, also an 80lb and a 30lb model I think.
Normally retail around $180-190.
Got one just before Xmas on special for $150.
Seems like a decent rod for the coin.

PS run mine with a Penn 850SS

ugly stick

Once upon a time my go to boat rod was a 10kg ugly stick with a penn 850ss - brutal combo haha but there wasn't much you could do wrong with it. The rod was only a hundred bucks and it's the combo I hand to people who don't fish often - pulled in some big reds up north with it no worries.

All my Penn's (650 ssm and 850ssv liveliner) are matched with Penn rods that do the job well.
