Boat Survey

Hi everyone

Going to look at a boat this weekend (8m with mercruiser).

Are there any highly regarded surveyors and marine mechanics you would recommend?  I used one for my last boat who was hopeless!

How old is the mercruiser and what boat? I would recommend a Club Marine condition report ,The report covers the current condition of the boat engine and trailer and is a good thing to do if purchasing a boat as you will need to have one done to insure it if it is over 10 years old anyway. Normaly around $150-250

Yeah Club Marine sure do and some others as working as a club marine dealer for 10 years i have done loads of them

I allways advise customers to have a condition report performed pre purchase if they are concerned this is a good idea so if there is any problems they are then aware and also if it is an older boat and is going to be insured it needs to be done any way killing two birds with one stone.

Also on that subject dealing with all the insurance companies over the years Club Marine is by far the quickest and best to deal with

I didn't have to get anything

I didn't have to get anything special done to insure my 10yr+ tub with Club Marine this time last year .

Maybe it was because the original owner already had it insured with them (I think) ?

For Club marine anything over 15 years of age needs a condition report from a Club Agent.

15 years is a bit different to 10

like i wrote before, ive had a few boats older than 10 years old and have never needed to get it inspected for insurance purposes (some were insured with club marine)

opinions are like arseholes - everyones got one hahaha

edit> also just for info i had a pre purchase inspection completed by portside marine a couple of months ago, they did a great job - very happy :-)
