GPS/Sounder advice please.

Hi guys,
In process of buying new GPS/fishfinder combo unit on it for 5.4m fibreglass boat.
Budget max $900 - $1000.
Probably going for the Lowrance Elite 5. I've also seen the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI, but this is bit over my budget.
Any opinions, is there much of a difference between the two, is it worth stretching my budget for the DSI, or is the Elite 5 good enough.
Also, on a different topic, need to get some tie downs for holding boat on trailer ( hooks on transom ), any advice on what type /where to get them from.
Cheers,
Michael.

Sounder
Just bought an Elite 5 for my dinghy and it is more than adequate for what i need. Sure beats the hell out of a hand held a black and white sounder. Very happy with the sounder and mapping with this unit, for $900 you will not get any better. The DSI is around a grand but you will ned to buy a card aswell ($350). All of a sudden it gets up a bit. A new model is coming out in the DSI and you may find a bargain somewhere. The DSI is slightly bigger, the main advantage is the HD Screen which can still be seen in bright conditions
I also looked at the Garmin model, mapping was great but was let down by the sounder which was a little dated i thought, though a bit cheaper around $600 for the small screen version. Hummingbird was a little more expensive so i couldnt go past the Lowrance.
Very easy to use and nice an compact, you wont be dissapointed
