Trailit

Give Wayne Richards at "Trailit Trailers" in Welshpool a try.

I got a very expensive price in Bassendean, then some others and wayne came to the party for me.

Make sure you check whats included some of the sharks out there are using things like second hand tyres, non galvanised rims, Spares are listed as an extra, submersible lights are extra, rego is extra, and so it goes on.

I'd recommend the grating to walk down to retrieve the boat.

Wayne did the right thing when i purchased my trailer, and I tried most of the "known" brands in Perth for a price.-Roadmaster quote came in $3500 over the price I got my trailer for, if that's any indication.

Wed, 2010-01-20 18:02

Dale  We put one of these under our new rig last year. Suprising as it was about 3 grand cheaper than a Mackay galv trailer and 300 kilos lighter. Worth a look thats for sure. Let me know if you want to come have a  look . . will have to be in the next couple of days though before I go to work.  http://www.duralum.com.au/html/trailers.html

I try to avoid rough weather

I try to avoid rough weather when I can but if I'm out there and the strong winds pop up it's no real problem, handles it quite well.

Have a look at Ace trailers in Wangara

Thu, 2010-01-21 10:24

He is making aluminium trailers with marine axles from the USA. I brought 2 of the 3.5T axles and retrofitted them to my trailer and they are real good. These axles are fitted with disc brakes and the whole assembly is marinised. I had a bugger of a time with the old style springs and car type brakes. They are using his trailers under the big Liesurecats and they go 4.5T.

ALKO over east also make axles for boat trailers that are very simillar to the ACE units.

Good luck Dale

There is a marinised version

There is a marinised version of the alko ones available through Martin's Trailer Parts, and it bolts on to anyone's trailer.

papas

Thu, 2010-01-21 17:54

i was looking a while ago to replace my damaged trailer, i was impressed with the Papas trailers as one of my biggest gripes is the rollers are bolted through the main support beams via a tube and bolt that screws into the side of the roller support tube, the papas all had large gauge threaded rod for all roller vertical adjustments and where reasonable priced

the only saving thought that the boat was alli so it would only be minor repairs and some on the motor, also good point of what happened to the safety chains and tie down straps  ??

It looks like the safety chains may have been attached to the king post still on the front of the boat.

The whole post has torn off it's mount.... doesn't say much for the quality.

It was said to have been travelling up north went over one of the many grids and it came apart.

Was being towed behind a truck.

That's all I have.

I think the welding is pretty sus when you look at it for the size of the boat it was supposed to , hold down, launch, retrieve.

If you have a couple of tonne working the post back and forth and the welding job was poor from the start it's going to break.

What would it have taken for the manufacturer to have put a couple of small triangular pieces on each side or a support post on the weight bearing side instead of a bit of flat bar? JMHO
