Boat upside down on reef- Behind Garden Island.

This is a stange one- Today behind Garden Island.

Could not get in too close,as very shallow.

Took pic and as you can see upside down, outboard still on.

No rego number on boat,so not sure about reporting it?

  It looked that way-

It looked that way-  Nothing (ie cushions/esky lid- ect) floating in water,or anything washed up on beach. Had a good look around on both sides of boat.

Very strange about no Rego.

Nah. Been there 3  weeks. It's stuck in there good. I couldn't get it off. Went out there with the owner to try and get it off a few days after it happened.

Cockburn VMR pulled boat off Carnac this morning

Tue, 2016-11-22 19:37

Was manning Avail IV and he was high and dry after wrapping an occy pot rope around his prop when only metres from the reef, next wave dropped him almost 5 metres back onto the reef, luckily Aly boat and motor was up, hell we had to get close to throw him a tow rope and be real gentle sliding him off but all ok

His pots were right hard

Tue, 2016-11-22 20:24

His pots were right hard against the break. Hooked up the pot to his winch and it was stuck and pulled up tight just as the swell rose. Flipped in a second.

I reported it two weeks ago

I reported it two weeks ago to FSR after coming across it also. But strange that it hasn't been cut up and removed as they would get a few calls about it.

 How big is the boat

Fri, 2016-11-25 07:24

How big is the boat Dodgy?

Looks like a pretty decent length.

I assume he was straight up and down on it when the wave went underneath....

Either way it shouldnt have happened, 2 people drowned in a similar way to this where i grew up in SA last summer except they decided it was a good idea to throw the pic out on some shallow country and catch some sweep on the boils....

Bigger than expected wave came through and 4 of them were in the water,  2 couples.

A bloke from one couple and a chic from the other drowned.
