Was the tap and neck plastic
Was the tap and neck plastic wrapped Sherbert? I'be arguing with them if not. I've had it happen before too and had it replaced.

Agree
It should have been plugged and the valve wrapped in plastic. Sometimes they can leak out on the dock. Either way i would not be happy and want it replaced.
Also i have found BOC have a guide line of min & max volume to fill a bottle, and it can be anyware within that range. So sometimes i get bottles that are realy full and others that are just above the min requirement ( which is just above 55% )

Yep
Had an identical experience, but unfortunately found out the bottle was empty whilst at Quobba.
Bottle was plugged and wrapped. Thankfully we did take 2 bottles though, and we got a few balloons out of the other one,but could've destroyed a trip and the money spent gettin there, time off work, etc.

I'm the Business Manager for
I'm the Business Manager for BOC's major opposition and can say that every now and then a valve on a bottle can go faulty and blow off. This can often happen if the cylinder has been sitting for some time outside and there has been extreme temperature changes which happens over summer. If the cylinder blows off you often wouldn't notice as it often doesn't do anything to the wrap or plug. Helium also being so light makes it hard to tell by lifting the cylinder and doing a weight test.
Best thing to do is use an old Oxy guage if you have one and test it before you leave their yard. That way they are obligated to swap out the cylinder straight away.

I would imagine the exorbitant yearly rental/service fee you pay every year would cover for the on going inspection/testing of these potentially dangerous vessels.I have on numerous occasions have had leakage around the control spindle (possible o ring) and returned for a new cylinder each time.

Good advice Bluetonic
Thanks for advising without putting the boot in. I have no connection with BOC, but I appreciate people who give useful advice without using it as an opportunity to bag the opposition.
