Just wondering if the Bonito ever come by Bunbury/Busselton (landbased) since they were such in thick numbers in Perth at the moment?

You could try out the end of the Busso jetty in the early mornings, they are usually about this time of the year.

as dale said off the end of
as dale said off the end of the jetty used to fire well for them
any time from now on in the autumm you will get bonito In the bay and around the capes
land based iv caught them from the jetty as a kid & from the stones at torpedo , wyadup ,cosy corner , contos
any deeper spot with the wind at your back s/easterlys & low swell
send out a small live herring under a balloon and wait
in the boat , we used to hit em up out on the 4 mile anywhere from the huts around to rocky point , just drag a lure and watch the birds , where there working , you will also get big pike & tuna in the same way

Some people eat them, but you need to bleed them pretty heavily. Taste like crap to me and most others. The Italians used to like them, maybe they had a way to cook them up.

Hi hezzy what do you refer to
Hi hezzy what do you refer to as the bay and the capes?
The Bonito taste alright. I tried the only one I caught and cooked it ttataki style. But from recollection, I used to buy them in Sydney fish markets and they tasted pretty good grilled. Just dry the fillets in the fridge, salt them and Grill them skin down till they're crispy with some lemon.

It would be Geographe Bay and Cape Naturaliste and probably Cape Leeuwin also. The Bonito we get here are different to the ones over east, eastern ones are a lot more palatable.
