It sounds like BRS has made some high ranked enemies within the ADF. How else would $300M of taxpayers’ money be spent to fund this investigation thus far. Tall poppy syndrome is alive and well.
Was it really necessary to arrest him in front of his 15-year-old daughters at the airport after a domestic flight? Nothing more than grandstanding.
Tony Abbott got it right when he said it was “wrong to judge the actions of men in mortal combat by the standards of ordinary civilian life".
Totally agree with the grandstanding arrest with the time and place in public with family and even some media outlets stating he was dragged off the plane.As uncle says it will be unfolding and for me I am grateful to him and his team members for the job and sacrifices they've made for our country.Not Many people take a body bag to work with them and are prepared to put there best mate in it and carry them out
The defence force are struggling to recruit enough people and the ones that are there are leaving in droves... I wonder why when you get treated like this.
This is a tricky one as I'm sure no one condones war crimes - if this really is one. I'm a big fan of BRS and this has been a witch hunt from the start. That prick Nick McKenzie has had it in for him for years and he's no better than a gutter journo IMO. What a grandstanding event they made of the arrest, and Channel 9 seems to have been tipped off as they created the file the day before.
Hopefully BRS gets to clear his name once and for all, but the circus and the cost to us in dollar terms and difficulty in recruiting will go on.
