Bottom bashing the Pilbarra

What rig and what leader material strenght?

I think I go out there undergunned with a FC 60lb, sugeons droppers and often a jig like a taikabura jig on the bottom.

Any thoughts

Neels

PS I am into a rig day and having fun

If we are getting the fish on the light stuff, we will get more upgrading.

80lb from now on.

Still sporty and not skull dragging the opposition.

Love it

Its only the leader

Its only the leader mate.

Some of the structure i have fished on up there, gotten busted up pretty quickly.

Only fish 50 or 65lb braid, but upgrade the leader for some of the bommies.

There was a pic in a hotbite mag a month or 2 ago of a mate of mine who caught a 5kg red on 8lb braid :P so it can be done for sure!!!

When i was at mackerel islands, we were using plastics in 35-40m of water and getting busted up by big trout.
And half the time it was the leader fraying through.

I used a 100lb rig last week

Thu, 2009-07-16 13:14

I used a 100lb rig last week at Sharks Bay, small figure 8 loop at the top with about a 200mm tag end which had a 6/0 tied to it and a large white lead head jig on the other 600mm end which was also my sinker. Both baited with chunks of fish and caught as much or if not more than the paternoster rigs being used.

Cheers
Dale
