Sounds like a nice lightish combo, couldn't really go wrong with that.

 I got a saltiga 4500 h/s on

Sun, 2015-06-28 18:45

I got a saltiga 4500 h/s on a saltiga pe 3-5 rod i found it hard to get used to  As I used to fish heavier  and overhead,

but once I learned the rod and the action it was awesome,  it's a gutsy rod and you can put hurt on the bigger fish. I've caught a few good size dhus on it and a few unstoppables lost to shit braid. I'd recommend it to anyone

Same with me Gyprock I've gone from a Tyrnos 30 down to a 5k Stella and Pe 3 Demon blood, will never look back but do have heavier outfits for up north. Cause the fish up there do hurt

Yeah like you say you get a lot of spool control with the overhead. I think Dirt on here pulled in a 20 odd kg Dhuie with a 4000 reel .http://fishwrecked.com/node/56959

I have Stella 5000 on a demon blood

And it is great, but honestly sits in the rod holder most of the time as I fish with a talica 8 overhead on a PE 4 or so rod. I love the ease of dropping down and adding hurt, hold it lightly all day.

The demon blood good for casting and other and jigging, but when the drift is strong or fishing over 50 m the amount of lead bends it a lot, so prefer the overhead.

there is a talica 10 set up which looks pretty good, very surprised not snapped up in for sale section.

Agreed

totally agree Ricey a 4000size reel and matching rod is more than enough to land a 20 kg dhuie but as ricey said not suitable for fishing the usual bottom fishing rig with 24 ounces of lead on it. You really need to decide on what you want to do with it , bait or jig. You may find something that can be used for both but won't be ideal for either. Ive done nothing but jig for Demersal for about 3 years solid with my 4 and 3000 size reels and as Seakem said I've been lucky to land 20kg dhuie on each of them. I went a brought a new bottom/bait fishing combo last week as I want to carry it on the boat so that when I have those days where I can see the fish but can't get a bite I plan on doing a couple of passes over the mark with bait before moving on just to see. I need to get my bag limit when I go out these days as my little 7months old girl is mowing through my fish stocks, she loves it haha. I didn't want anything to heavy as I knew after using the gear I've been using I wouldn't enjoy it. I ended up buying the new Catalina 30ld and a diawa saltest hyper Pe 5 rod. Super light combo to hold and still enough bend in the rod to get some enjoyment
