Braid

Interesting to read the thread about the Aussie $ as Ive started to buy braid online from overseas due to the HUGE prices we pay in Aus for it (im all for supporting local industry but i find it hard to fatham spending $100 or more on a spool of braid when i can get it for $30ish off ebay)

Interested to know what brands of braid people use???

Ive used the penn power stuff recently and find it not too bad.

Cheers

Bodie

Braid?

Fri, 2009-10-16 09:07

HI

I bought many from ebay from 14kg to 55kg and so far I was able to use them well for anything and I bought rolls of 1200m for the price you buy 100m at Tackleworld

shops I will buy again. Stick to the proper american stuff a friend of mine bought from a new brand and it came as knitting braid he got he's money back tho.

The brand I bought was " Spektra Supa Braid " I cought a shark of 93kg in Melbourne on my 14kg braid on my Torium and was able to load 800m on this real.

Hope this help!

go like japaneese PE braids like daiwa and yamatoyo and varivas although the american power pro is so super strong and nice and thin

Varivas

can be as low as half the price we pay here.

Example: 600m of Big One PE5 (78lb) in your mailbox in a week for under $250 - same line, but 300m spool is $230 here.......

Spooled my lastest reel with Jerry Brown and have another 1200 yards on the way, this is from a store not Ebay but can't get close here with any brand of braid at the prices I'm getting, and that includes insurance and online tracking post.

With the way the Aussie dollar is going, unfortunately for the local guys, I can see a lot of people doing the same thing. It's not something I'd do to save 50 or even a 100 bucks but when you buy a couple of things and save 600 or 700 hard earned dollars, well I'm afraid it's too good to pass up. IMO that is...........

Normally we would buy 6-8

Normally we would buy 6-8 spools per pruchase, in differrent line classes for 2 of us. So savings can be quite high.

180 metres would come close to spooling some pro casters Laughing

$35 AUD in the slightly lower exchange rate the dealers give you?

Add 33% extra for a 300 metres spool  $47?

Whats the postage worth? $30?

Does your credit card charge you and exchange fee eg: 4%

They certainly dont put the braid on the spool for you Laughing
