Varivas Big One,

Varivas Big One, Accudepth and Saltiga are good high end braids.

For your cheaper braids I would go Fins PRT or Sensor.

Plenty more out there to look at....Im very lazy haha

But i hope thats a couple for you to look at.

I've used, Fireline plattil

Thu, 2009-06-04 23:58

I've used, Fireline plattil and highseas. Wouldn't go near them again.  TD sensor is good same with the SW and Tournament jigging braids. Have just bought some Bionic to try in 20lb and 50lb, based on good reports. Quite a few people I know have used tuffline and recommend it.   the Varivas and YGK range of products is supposed to be awesome!

I mainly use YGK and Daiwa

I mainly use YGK and Daiwa Sensor - particularly for the heavier stuff and jigging. both are fantastic... Worth the money.

I also have Tuffline (PE5) and Highseas (PE2) that I have used recently on reels I don't pick up too often and it did the job... Didn't "pop" on me or fray so I couldn't complain...

the Chinese stuff off Ebay - just threw 2 x 200m spools in the bin because it simply unravels like one of Nana's home knitted jumpers.

Yes, unfortunately some of these "bargains" don't work out.

I love bionic myself. Tuffline and Ugly are pretty good value.

Braid!

Wed, 2009-06-10 18:39

I have used tuff line, and fireline myself, and my personal opinion is that tuffline is junk, and that Berkley fireline is the best on the market for a reasonable price.

I haven't ventured into Jinkai or anything like that because I think its out of my price bracket, but I now alway use 50lb Berkley Fireline!  That is my personal opinion, and I know other people probably prefer others.  If you want to get out of it cheap, do what I also do, and that is get someone you know to pick you up some 50lb braid in Bali, there is always someone you know going there, and it works just as well as fireline.
