Today is one of the two days per during my leave that all kids are in school or daycare and I woke up to pretty heavy rain and 10kn winds.

Gave it until 10am and the rain stopped so I packed the boat and drove to Hillarys only to get smashed by rain again on the way down but I was already determined. I had no plan in mind and I decided to head out and find some ground that I can take the Mrs and kids out on a weekend where they can also see the bottom and settled on a bank MickC suggested 1 mile out of the marina.

Sounded around and found some little lumps and berleyed up and spend the next 30 mins looking at blowies and managed to catch a trumpeter to send back out on some snelled circles. 

Had two rods with unweighted bits of squid out the back and the familiar bubble began and it was a race to dehook one bull herring before the other rod was taken. I chucked on an EBI Panick popper and the herring were hitting it so hard they were launching out of the water and I lost more than I landed but great fun on the 1-2kg rod and 4lb line but not as much fun as the nice skippy I hooked that peeled some line off my little 1000 Rarenium.

It went real quiet and then a seal pops up for a look into the boat and I also had a few dolphins cruise passed for a look too which was pretty cool. Pulled anchor and trolled the weed bed with a small minnow to finish off my bag and I was done for the day.

Nothing big landed but still better than being at work even if the rain did come down so hard I couldn't see the marina 1 mile away. Crumbed hezza and gardie for dinner tomorrow night and already had skippy sashimi tonight.
