Bow & Stern Lighting Ideas/Help

Hi All,

looking for some guidance or help anyone could post/offer on a few crafty ideas for Lighting mount points(?) & track record on any lighting bars or spotties being used?

I have a 660 Trailcraft (few photos below), with a bimini/canopy (not hard top), which dont want to be mounting too much on the rocket launchers top side/facing the bow.

Are there any circular type mounts that could be fited to the Bow rail?

Cheers!

Currently in the same boat, cant decide between a light bar or a hand held spotty or both... I have similar bow rails on my rig so ill be keeping an eye on this thread.

I have a 12v cigarrette lighter socket in my boat, was thinking of getting a handheld Lightforce spotty just to look out for floats etc when night fishing.

Otherwise I was going to mount light bar either on bow rails, or just under the front windscreen. But unsure of glare from bow rails if I do that...

definitely not the windscreen option

You will definitely get light blinded with the white reflection from the bow rails if you mount your forward facing light under your windscreen.
I have a HID mounted on my hardtop roof and it is useless at night. You can see more with it turned off...
I am looking at mounting a light bar off the front bow rails at the moment and just put it up as you need it.
will be following this post to see if others have done this and it is worth it.

currently working on the same thing ,

my plan at present is to get peter at marindi locally to weld a alli tube 75-90cm high onto the front deck about 70cm back in from the bow , with foot plate and top plate ,about 15cm x10cm

the idea is to fix to led lights to the top plate , and hard wire them back down the tube to inside the cabin , with a fuse and internal switch seperate to the normal running lights

from past night fishing experience this will give me the light ahead on the water when underway , but it wont reflect back too much and blind me

You don't want any light

You don't want any light shining on the boat in front of you at all or it will completely destroy your ability to see very far past the bow. So you either need the light mounted up front & high like Hezzy is planning or you need it at the very front of the boat where there's nothing for it to shine on but water. On your boat I'd be looking at putting a mounting plate between the ends of the bow rails & mounting a 12" light bar there. That should give you decent close in vision & carry a hand held spotty for anything further out. Honestly, you will probably find you end up running with the light up front turned off most of the time.

Stern lights. What type of lights do you mean? Deck lighting, rear facing spreads, underwater? If it's deck lighting you want, IMO you can't go past LED strip lights mounted in clear drinking water hose & sealed up with a bit of silicone. Completely water proof (throw it in the water if you like), cheap & uses next to no power. Another tip for deck lighting is to choose yellow lights as they attract way way less bugs than white lights if your fishing in close.

I got a light bar on the very front of my bow rails. It's a spot/flood light combo and works a dream for spotting pot floats.

Appreciate the comments, sounds like a few Ali upgrades on the Bowrail right uptowards the front to avoid any reflection.

can confirm Deck lighting Shimka, those LED strips are next to nothing also. Will have to get a little crafty with options.

lets hope some more ideas come along in the next few weeks.
