Lures or bait? Budget? And why do you specifically want a baitcaster?

If youre bait fishing then

If youre bait fishing then yeah ok- just go for the smaller sizes- 100m of 6lb line is heaps.

If your lure casting, you wont get much use of a baitcaster as they just cant throw the light lures you use for bream.  Better off with a 1000, 1500, 2000 or even 2500 size spinning reel.

Compared to a small threadline a baitcaster suxs trying to throw small or light lures. Once the lure weight picks up, they are more difficult, but more accurate to cast with, ie for barra etc.

I would  say the  advantage

I would  say the  advantage  of  a baitcast  is  purely  for   using  decent  sized durable  dead baits. Leave  it  in free spool  for  the  bream  to   have  a couple  runs   before  locking  up  and  striking.  I gues  for  some  people  its a  smoother  quicker  action. All  personal choice  i guess.
