Broken Rod and Lost the lot, do I have a replacement case?
Ok, so you may have read I had a little bit of a loss yesterday with my Daiwa Monster Mesh PE 3-6 matched with my Stella 8. Basically the situation was, hooked up a good fish, got sharked, fought the shark for some time, then pop, rod breaks at butt joint, fall back and over the side goes the lot, all caught on video (will post vid soon) The setup was 50lb mainline (braid) with an 80lb fluorocarbon leader on a rod rated PE 3-6.
All seated correctly, at time of break, no more than a 45 degree angle between butt and tip.
Do I just cringe and bear it, or do I have a case to get something done about it?
I know it's not the worst thing in the world, but pretty disappointing watching your hard earnt stuff disappear due to normal use.
Suggestions please!
Thanks

Dont know legally where you
Dont know legally where you stand but i would be making a hell of a racket to Daiwa and see what they are willing to do. If they do not pony up the cash then start telling them you will publisize the video showing their crappy equipment at work. Try the nice approach then start getting heavy if you get no joy

Daiwa
Daiwa do state on their website that the rod I was using was their strongest popping / jigging rod . Website also shows the correct use rod angles and it doesn't even get close to the limit of operation. In my opinion it shouldn't have broken .

Ouch, that sucks mate! I'd be giving them a call direct and letting them know you're a big supporter of Daiwa gear, always look after your rods and know all about proper use in regards to lift angles etc but that something must have been wrong with that particular blank. Might have been dropped or had a crack in it on its way to the shop / you. Let them know you where filming when it happened if they want proof it wasn't a case of misuse.
I'd say phone them for sure tho cause if you send an email its a lot more impersonal and easy to brush you off, make sure you're polite and dont get angry right off the bat or it'll turn into a them vs you instead of a case of them looking after a valued customer! I reckon you've got a good chance at scoring a replacement rod but unfortunately I think the reel is gonna be collateral damage.
Good luck with it mate!

Insurance
As I mentioned previously id be looking at my boat and home and contents insurance to see what is or isnt covered under these circumstances. If no joy with that then try daiwa. I'd expect daiwa to replace the rod but I reckon you have buckleys of getting them to give you money to go buy a Stella with.
Gooooone Fishin!

Insurance not interested
Yeah did contact them and because the gear wasn't specified as for use out of the house then I'm up shit creek. Will give Daiwa a buzz today. Got the feeling they're not gonna give a damn either.
