Busselton Jetty Fishing

Here are a few pics from the last couple of nights. Will add more pics as we get them. Just showing you guys a bit of the life on the jetty.
The Jetty trolley is a must.
Kaotik Jetty Rat in his rat hole. Wind break tarp set up.
A few fish.
We leave the jetty as we found it. Remember to always take your rubbish.
Scottnot with a freshly caught tailor.
Nice one Scottnot. 50 cm Bonito.
Small haul caught between 7 and 9 pm.
TheJettyRats haul after ariving late after work.
A squid caught off the end by some kids from perth. Good catch lads.
Come prepared or don't come at all LoLz. Me and my trolley.
3am at the cleaning table. Always leave it clean for the next fisho.

Great stuff mate, I'm lucky enough to have folks live down that way so whenever I visit them I usually head down for a session at the Jetty. Have caught plenty of tailor and herring there, a few rays and some mammoth sized squid over the years.Still hoping for that sambo! The trolley is a must for the jetty, My Dad made a contraption out of an old golf cart! It makes life so much easier! Good on you for promoting cleaning up after your self too we need to preserve such places for future generations. It pisses me off that people leave so much rubbish around after they fish. I often find myself cleaning up after people. I went to canning bridge the other day and the place was filthy!

Great to see a promotion of keeping the joint clean- keeps the authorities off everyone's backs and dosen't spoil it for the majority! Love the look of the trolleys too

had a great night at the jetty last night was a few talior sent a balloon out we had nothing for a while then about 11 got a run was about an hour fight ended up being a massive tiger shark but unfortunately pulling it up it straighted the gaff but was a great night and get to do it all again tonigjt

What would you have done with the massive tiger shark had you been able to get it up on the jetty without the gaff hooks straightening?
Any big tiger is full of mercury, bloody tough to chew and believe me hard to dress out, so would it have been out with the jaws as a trophy and back over the side,
Going back a couple of entries it states that a 2 metre bronzie was lost much the same way , it would have been over legal size so again what was the point of trying to gaff it when you are going to damage it just for the cost of a wire trace and a couple of hooks.

my bronzy was under 2m, i said 6ft+ not 2m+ n the reason we tried to gaff him was the fact he wrapped my line all around his body, fins n his tail, so if i'd just cut the line he probably would of drowned nehow,but when the gaff bent straight he threw the hooks and rolled out of it n i think he'll be able to heal from the gaff (it wasnt a head shot we went for his ass end).
he was guna be released if too big n i dont use wire trace, lol, why not ask why, before saying why you think, lastnite i fished with the lads who hooked the tiger and they didnt want to stick a gaff in it they just wanted pics of it, just like ne fisho who catches something big. but another group from perth decided to try and gaff it! they the ones who lost their gaffs.
thanks for the concern though carnarvonite ,i saw a local young guy out there cut the whole sting n tail off a bull ray and throw him back out the end, i was the only local that said anything to him n rang fisheries to report it n i still havnt heard back from them. theres nothing we can do (locals) to stop ne fishing illegally or otherwise, i told fisheries numerous times, when and where to go out the jetty to catch illegal fishing, yet i still have not seen em once out there.
and the amount of rubbish left on the jetty after Australia day weekend was appalling, if you cant take ur rubbish home dont come out on our jetty! i had to pick up a smashed vb bottle, so no one would slice their feet open, absolutely pathetic! i know who you are and if see you on our beautiful jetty again i dont care how big you are your going for a swim!!!!

i know how you feel sam had same thing happen to me about a week ago,lost a 6ft+ bronzy off there cause the 2 prongs on gaff straightened as we hauled him up n the hooks come loose,was spewing,lol,but thats fishing the jetty!hopefully we can get our usual spot 2nite we be heading out round 530!

Love that trolly setup fellas...nothing worse than having to lug gear to your destination, particularly ou tthe end of a several K's long jetty.
Just out of interest, how does the jetty go in April fish wise? Will be down there at the end of April for five days and am keen to give the jetty a bash

must say had an awesome time down in busso landed a nice gummy sharks a bonito and some huge tailor big thanks to mark and the boys you guys are tru aussies should be more guys like you around you boys make that jetty what it is and must say the fish u smoked for tea was awsome im gunna be down there every 3rd weekend :)
All so with the tiger shark I wasnt gunna keep him just wanted a better photo and to remove the hooks :)

That was my question
Why put a gaff in to a MASSIVE tiger shark to pull it up some 3-4 metres and do major damage to it in the process, possibly enough that it wouldn't survive just you you can get a couple of pics.
Who was going to get in the water to swim it when you put it back?
The mind boggles!!! I was taught at an early age that any life is precious be it animal or fish, if you are not going to eat it or have a bloody good reason for killing it, let it live and a couple of pics is not a good enough reason in my book.
Sure Chris down south has it wired with a 100% successful release tally but he is doing it from a beach where he can walk them not 300 metres out on a jetty.

Before you disappear, I used to fish the Busso jetty as a kid while growing up in Bunbury and my Mum would come down there to visit her rellies while we fished. Yo wouldn't have been thought of then so I think I know a bit of history from it.
Just because I have a pic of a red caught from a boat doesn't mean I don't go from the rocks, beach or jetty up here. To please you I will have a dig around and see if I can put a land based one up, though it may be hard because I only take pics of exceptional fish nowadays because having seen thousands come aboard or up a beach over many years one gets a bit blase about them, though the threll doesn''t diminish.
If you don't want people to read your comments, don't put them up, clear and simple.

Great report , i realy enjoy your post's Jetty Rat, I don't always get time to reply but look forward to reading your reports about the Busso jetty. Some realy good pictures there and the the tackle carts are awsome.

I got some in the frerezer but I intend to use them as bait during kingy season. If I catch any while you are down i'll throw them your way while we are out there, i'll see if any of the other boys will do the same.
