Busso beach fish March 2015

Visiting with the fam for a week and not having much luck off beach or jetty. Was going to give Hospital Beach and/or Forrest Beach a go next?
Any tips? Just want to get the kids a few herring or whiting

Small long shank hook, 1
Small long shank hook, 1 foot leader, swivel and small running sinker above swivek for the whiting.
Really small pieces of prawn for bait. Whiting have small mouths big bits of bait they wont take hook.
Should be able to get nearly fish a cast there.

Thx burnz
The small jetty is out of action at the moment with construction from what I can tell...
Reckon Hospital beach at the end of Mill Rd is worth a go? Seems to rate highly on fishwrecked?

Head to Dunsborough then take
Head to Dunsborough then take Cape Naturaliste Rd out of town. Turn right when you get to Meelup Beach Rd then right again onto Castle Rock Rd & follow that down to the beach. The beach there has been packed with herring every single time I've ever been there.

Little rock groynes...
...there's a few of them all along the beach. We used to catch heaps of hezzas (and the odd undersize salmon) off the end of the one near Siesta Park. Little paternosters with mini gangs and whitebait. Very light lurecaster and Gulp sandworms/1/12 oz jighead also a pearler!

seno , for herring mate
seno ,
for herring mate head up to forrest beach on a south/ south easterly wind , burley with something that floats like pollard and oil in a dry ish mix ,
use a standard herrign rig, float, with along 1.5 metre leader, flouro tube/single hook ,
id go about 5.30 in the arvo and you should get afeed ,
or as suggested , the dunsborough to eagle bay coast is alive at the moment with them , you just have to be patient to contend with all the kayakers, paddle boarders , etc that will pass directly across your casting range on that bit of coast

Could fish the beach around
Could fish the beach around that small jetty for whiting. They arent far out. The whiting are in close so if you go on the big jetty the further you go out the less you catch.
I used to fish the Geographe Marina groynes and little beach there for whiting. Although last time was there it had all changed Also gof smoked a few times there by big fish on light gear. Once a metre or so long silverish fish jumped about 100m infront then snapped me off maybe YTK i will never know. Used to get alot of herring and few gardies and taylor in marina too.
Was at busso jetty about a month ago seen biggest gardie ive ever seen about 1m long as fat as your forearm. Yes a gardie not long tom.

That would more than likely
That would more than likely of been a giant herring that snapped you off in the marina.
Definitely Forrest or Peppy at the moment for herring.

theres also a squid option if
theres also a squid option if you are keen on them. sunrise and sunset are probably the best times, use glowing jigs if you're fishing at night. if you rig it up on a handline with a squidjig its pretty easy just drop it down no need to cast it out, you can cast out if you want to too :)
