Yep. Easy to do. Just did my 600 hr service on Sunday (I have done every service since 40hrs myself). Cost me $180 all up, would guess over $700 at a shop.
I bought a full service manual online, it is excellent, pretty cheap.
I used to get parts on line but with the exchange rate, it is cheaper and more convenient to get them in Perth, I get the parts from the mob out on Row Highway in Midland, pretty good guys.
As for oil, I used to use Verado oil, but now just use a good quality Castrol 25W50 from Supercheap, half the price, same spec and probably the same oil.
You don't loose any warranty with Merc by doing it yourself, the simple owner manual even says so and shows you how to do the simple 100 hr services.
Boston Whaler 235 Conquest......getting the flogging it was built for.

I'm interested in doing my own 6hp Tohatsu 2s and am confident in replacing the impeller, stripping the carby and changing the oil but how do you tune up your engine?

Probarly not required, unless something is wrong - most manuals
give a detailed description of the setup and tuneup if you want to do it..

Mine is due for it's 1 year
Mine is due for it's 1 year service so I want to strip and clean the carby so assuming it'll also need to be tuned. I just looked up the service kit for my outboard though and it's going to cost me $125 for the parts compared to $250 for the service so don't think it's worth doing myself

is it listed?
I'd be way more than astonished if anyone would strip the carby at 1 yr, and i can't see why it'd ever be done unless something is wrong?
Never seen it on a service schedule as a routine item?

Coz I'm ultra fussy and want
Coz I'm ultra fussy and want to give it a clean after it's been running 25:1. My other option is to completely replace it with an 8hp carby which is the only thing different between the 6hp and 8hp tohatsu. I was actually going to do this until I bought my big rig and have shelved the plan as I don't really take the dinghy anywhere where I can go above 5 knots anymore.
