Guys just wondering. Have a northstar m84 combo with aus wide c map card 2008. When in perth and I want to look at an area say exmonth on the gps to add marks etc I cant zoom in closer than 2 km scale or see any data on water depth contour lines etc..
Is this normal for cmap units?
Will this info appear once closer to location?
all this info is avail for the perth area?
I don't want to get up that way and then find my card is stuffed etc..
Am I missing something or are all units like this?
Cheers for the help.

I have a Navman GPS same as
I have a Navman GPS same as Northstar, go into your main menu and you can turn your plotter mode on or off which will let you zoom right in on a mark but you will lose map detail when you zoom close in, I turn it off when around navigating around reefs to give back map detail. Some areas of the WA coast wont have much detail.

Both the AUS wide chart &
Both the AUS wide chart & the local exmouth chart cards contain the same information & scale... except i have been told that the wide charts always contain less detail... I think they simplify them slightly to fit more data on the card.

If you pull the card out of
If you pull the card out of the unit it will say on the card the area it covers (mine is Esperance to Darwin). I was going to suggest turning some features on (ie contour lines, spot soundings etc) but if they work in Perth they should work on the Exmouth area. Are you sure it is a Aust wide card?
If it is a Aust wide card, maybe you're trying to zoom in on an area that is only covered by a small scale chart (a chart covering a large area). Try navigating your cursor to the Exmouth marina and zoom in there. You should get a better zoom in as this area is well surveyed (large scale chart).
On my Navman (old Northstar) I turn off the feature that "stops" you zooming past the chart level, so I can zoom right it over GPS marks to determine drift better etc. I am away at the moment so can't remember what this feature is called but can find out when I get home.

found the web site
Appears I have the aus wide card but very little info on their site about what it may contain.
Will have to play around a little more with some settings...
