C map reveal

A tackle shop in busselton called 2 oceans tackle put a video on facebook showing the new mapping card.Shit video but you get the idea. It will be awesome for the deep droppers as it is a 3D map of the bottom with great detail including the deep stuff. Just one problem, price tag of $899

My 719 I think it was there has been some very extensive charting off the WA coast, but it it a hell of the way out and too far for even the keenest of deep droppers I think

Pretty pricey but I would be happy to pay it if it was more detailed. From what I can see in the preview it really doesn't cover much that will be usefull to rec guys anyway. It's mostly too far offshore.
Except exmouth looks really well covered.

East coast maps are smaller but only $400.
Wonder how much will be added in over time.

Looks like there is now a WA only version for $299. Has anyone picked it up and tried it out?

I was driving a boat with this the other day at tantabiddi and was shaking my head and thinking this will  be the end of fish here.  Everything is on it to the smallest depth change and contour.  Scary.   Very scary. No secret spots anymore a couple of my tiny spots in the middle of nowhere stand out like dogs balls on that map.

cruzy111, no disrespect, but there is irony in you shaking your head (in a disapproving fashion i assume), yet you are the owner of such a card.

While there is no doubt some

Thu, 2021-07-29 22:35

While there is no doubt some of the deep data has come from the CSIRO or other official bodies from recent search efforts, i'm pretty confident most if not all of the shallower stuff comes from sonar logs uploaded by end users, which was sold as a means to securely store hard earned data, ease of access anywhere, and to improve the overall navigational experience/accuracy.  This explains the gaps in extent of relief shading reported in many areas between shallow and superdeep.

Nothing is really yours anymore once uploaded to the cloud, and i could see through this bs many years ago, and never uploaded a single log for that reason.  All the major marine navigation map developers now have this feature.

I for one find it really cheeky that they are making money off the time and money spent by others (for the boat, electronics, and fuel) via some deceptive marketing.

Do i need one of these maps?  Not at all.

Will i be buying one of these maps?  Almost certainly.  It's a fantastic investment IMO.

Should boat fishos stop uploading their hard earned sounding data?  Absolutely!  I think the hunt is part of what makes fishing a challenge.

Makes me wonder what the Reveal data is like in Shark Bay and further north....  The quality of the data could be one of the contributing factors to the recent posession limit changes....  Fish literally have no where to hide anymore.

Spot on Chevaps

We bake the bread in ovens we payed for only to give the product away for free ,then buy it back at top dollar to eat. They tell us its progress and make us belive that its a good thing and we should feel good about it.

I say dont think so !

Fish for the future and we will make it easier to find them.

Its a hole new world we live in.

Fri, 2021-07-30 21:04

It's funny. These maps (layers) help us, but also make us work harder to find spots not already flogged.

I've looked at a few of my spots against these layers, and they have not been 'revealed'. A matter of time no doubt.

Yeah mate. Still playing around with it but it will show bottom structure as per the pic above, the usual navigation map showing reef/breakers etc or you can split the screen and run C-Map structure and Navionics map on the one screen

Wow! Just installed it in my HDS and it's not showing much offshore from my usual hunting grounds but up north out wide it's amazing. Areas where you'd never think there'd be lumps or ledges, as above fish have no where to hide.

Only 9 months till I get to actually see if theses showings produce lol.
