Madfish bag and Mackie bagout
Had a bonza day with a Mackie bagout north of Exmouth around the Islands on our last trip in July.
Occasionally you get a good day. And this was one of them.
Found a lump trolled it early got 4 Mack's before the sharks took over.
Went and bottom dropped for 3 hours finding new ground, then went back to lump and bagged out on the Mack's in half hour.
You've got to be quick and have a very effcient system to beat the sharks.
The Madfish bag managed all the fish easily and the ice lasted all day (even to 3am the next morning) when all the cleaning and cryovaccing had finally been completed.
It's not just the catching/cleaning boat etc - it's also cleaning the fish with some skin on and cryvaccing that takes time.
The biggest Mack went 1.3m. One of the reds was a Tomato Cod - what was the other?
