Camping spots

Can anyone suggest a camping spot (where we won't get mugged and beaten ;) between Gero and Carnarvon. Just starting to plan next years Gnaraloo trip. Was thinking we would leave on a Thurs arvo and get up that way aprox 9-10 pm so camp and do the rest the next day. It's an epic 13hrs in one hit so a split trip and a few beers on the way would be nice. Cheers Andy

Don't know for sure but think you can camp at overlander roadhouse. Last time I was up that way, I just pulled of the highway and drove until i was out of site and camped there, had a fire going and everything

Consider the Murchison River camping grounds Andy
All good there. Only grey nomads to deal with and you should be able to beat up on them if they give you trouble. It's about half way to boot

between
billabong and overlander on the west side are a couple of spots you can get away from the road. we usually aim for there and then your set for a breaky stop.

Hi Tot aiming for either
Hi Tot aiming for either late May early June. Going to book on Monday. Last couple of times we got into the station going on dark would prefer to get in there with good daylight on the track.

Gladstone
Turn in to Gladstone about 10-15 km short of Wooramel roadhouse, Its a 4 km drive in but far enough off the highway that you can set up properly.
On another matter while at Gnaraloo, once you are out at sea can you try on channel 81 VHF to reach Carnarvon, we are keen to find out the range of the Cape Cuvier repeater.

Sounds like two good options
Sounds like two good options there. Thanks for the feedback fellas. Hey John we aren't there till next year but wiil be keen to have some sort of radio contact. After last time when we hounded Laurie from Murchison boat hire to keep a channel open and monitor each other. Good to just know your radio is transmitting out there.I think we'll buy a small genny to run the freezer and a light.
