I did mine with the sea
I did mine with the sea rescue guys at Pt Peron. They are volunteers and ot is them that is going to pick you up, so they do make sure you learn something.
I despair for the guys that say they did a quick course, or the guy said you would pass, or whatever bullshit.

I had a nice young lady at woodmans point teach me,
the office is just behind the shop there,
although i phoned and booked before hand (naturally)
very patient and helpful, even let me do a few more goes and docking / undocking
after I passed, just for my own self confidence.
highly recommended

Whats the point in the practical part of the course?
I've seen people very nearly crash the boat whilst doing their practical part of the ticket and I bet you they got the big thumbs up. We were sitting around with the crab pots out so we saw them from the time they turned up untill when they left. Sign here and give me the money, your good to go champ.

Secound the woodies point people, I also found them helpful, not in a rush etc .
So every person getting their car lic in Perth this year are fully compendant and exllecent drivers are they?
nope, fact of life is you really learn far more once your out there , not saying thats the safest way to do it, but
thats our system.
Nextly ( new word!) I for the life of me dont know why all rec boaters in W.a dont
get sent a monthly /2 monthy newsletter from fisheries/lic/sea resue, water police combined stating the full
circumstances of every accident /incident so we may all learn from these things.
How many rec and comm boat accidents has there been in the last couple of months that we basiclly
know bugger all about. Those whom forget the past are condemmed to ................ etc.
Good luck , gleen all you can from the book and your test, and approach your rec boating with caution
and a sense of mortality for you and your crewman whom you have responsability for .
