Can you recommend a pistol grip torch for diving?

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a pistol grip torch for diving.  I'd probably prefer a bigger one so I can lay down and shine it into a cave/ledge - eg, when going for crays.

Can anyone recommend a suitable torch?

Here's a link to a load of torches from DiveImports:

I thought the T06 - Underwater Kinetics - Light Cannon 100 didn't look too bad though it's not rechargable and is a little pricey.

cheers

Just tape it to your loop with the beam behind the open loop so not to shine it in their eyes

Not really?

Not really? Pistol grips sucks for craying.

I use the old version of the led penetrator 220, it lights their eyes up nicely from range and I just have it on a retracter. You can get em from these guys,;

Laccy banded to my snare is a pelican mitylite from atkins carslyle for $20. Its just enough light to get some depth perception, and its pointing right where the snare is.

If you want to step up again, look at the canister HIDs. I use a greenforce one with a soft goodman glove. Chriso has some good ones, check out the Light Monkey gear over at Dive Tub.

Wayne i bought the pack that is last on that list where you get the C8 and little one, good value for $170. I never use the little one and the C8 is perfect for sticking on a rock or ground to light up the cave when catching crays, just getting the angle right is a little annoying sometimes. Also good for cruising by ledges and just lighting them up to see whats in there rather than poking your head in. My mate has the LED version and the only difference is the colour of the light, much whiter.

cheers fellas - I already have a miniQ taped to my loop which works well though some times on murky days I thought a bigger light shining in from the side would work well... especially when the crays starting shying away and backing up...
