Cape Leveque

Iam planning a camping holiday north in August for several weeks and one area we are serious about is north of Broome going through to Cape Leveque and just want to know how bad the track is and how much is track and bitumen.  we will be taking an off road camper trailer behind my cruiser and are self sufficient with generators and solar  , where can you purchase fuel after broome and is Petrol availabel or only diesel ,

There is a servo at One Arm Point right up the top there. We bought diesel, "fairly" sure there was unleaded also.

magic spot - was up at middle lagoon a few years ago - you can launch a boat there and we took two boats in, launched at middle lagoon and camped on the lacepede islands which are about 15nm offshore- not much there -couple of big light house frames - awesome view from the top - lots of birds, sharks and crayfish! - oh and the fishing was pretty awesome

Cape Leveque road got an

Cape Leveque road got an absolute hammering this year with the rain we had but by august it won't matter due to traffic. 50% is sealed but that is the top end of it with another 30kms apparently being sealed this dry season.
Let your tyres down to 28 psi and keep your speed down and it won't be a problem. Allow 3-4 hrs travel from Broome. Middle lagoon is a nice spot or try Gumbanin near ONE ARM POINT and just day trip to cape Leveque and cygnet bay. It's a nice spot to camp at a good price.
Fuel up at the roadhouse up there its easy to find just before Cape Leveque turnoff.

Bit of irony, I went up to One Arm point back in the early 80s and had to pay $1.40 a litre of fuel, vowed to never go back. The norm now. A fantastic part of the world though.

Shit Dale that was cheap $1.69.9 in Broome at the moment, The tourists are in town. Hate to think what the roadhouse up the cape is charging. I'm doing the Canning Stock Route in 5 weeks and expect to be paying about $4.00 a litre then. Will cost about a grand to fill my cruiser.

Yeah, back then, fuel in Perth was about 40c a litre.
