Centre Lifting Ram Yamaha 200

 Hi All,

does anyone have some solutions for fixing pitted rams? i have had a quote for replacing the centre ram and it is exhorbitant to say the least. i was thinking of removing the ram and sanding it on a lathe or rechroming. Any thought or ideas would be welcome at this stage. Thanks.

hey sea hunter

cant remember the name of the guy for the life of me but there used to be a guy in wangara who would hardchrome shafts and the likes and then machine them back to size, I had some bricksaw bearing shafts done a few years back he did a great job and was reasonably priced.

Getting the shafts re chromed or hard chromed is the way to go, you will save a small fortune. There is also a process called metal spraying but I haven't heard of any one who does this now as chroming seems to have replaced the process.
