G'day all , heading up for a 3 day trip next week ,taking my 4.65 profish and the family ,haven't ever been out up there but beach launch looks fairly good .Might have a poke around for some fish ,has anyone heard if its worth a troll yet ,and might just head out and try find some demersals ,any advice appreciated on the area .
Heard the jetty and weedbeds are worth a look for some squid ?

wind
will be the biggest issue mate,
Early start with the Easterly and start trolling either Nth or Sth just outside the reef and you will be a huge chance of a mack or 2, you will probably get an hour or 2 when the Easterly drops to anchor and burley a lump in the 20-30 meter range for your bottom fish before the early (strong)seabreeze. I wouldn't head too far out in a sub 5 m boat if its a normal windy summer day forcast, especially with the family.
good luck- if it is windy take small gear and burley and just catch herring etc in the bay, And take your pots!

Well had a great trip , flash
Well had a great trip , flash updated caravan park was great , went out around 5-6 mile and trolled up some footy sized tuna , no mackies water temp was @ 23 ,marked a few small patches and went back and grabbed a 52 cm baldie and 72 cm pinky .
Spent the rest of the day at the island swimming in the sweet clear water , next day trolled up more tuna and a good feed of squid .Took some fillets to f& chip shop who kindly cooked them up with some chips n nuggets for kids .
Gave co-ords to a fellow tinny fisher in the park who popped out and landed a 750 mm Dhu first drop .
Great place ,be back soon
Cheers

Def worth a troll around
Def worth a troll around while your watching the sounder for bottom fish. Mackies and yellow fin tuna behind the reef this time of year.
