I was greedy and put in a 7 and an 10m went out today first time since installed and to be honest I could have just gotten away with the 10 but who cares it's in now :) it's agreat setup.
Was testing out hitting up marks and the how easily I could go back over them. Checking drifs using the heading extention.
Also had some ql trim tabs installed and boy they make a difference.
hey i use the garmin 551s which is both a fish finder and chart plotter but i only use it as a gps. it is very easy to use and dont have a problem with it at all. i have herd alot of bad stories about the lowrances and alot of good so just a matter of doing reserch and finding the right one for yourself as most of the 5 inch gps are around the $800 mark. happy huntting.

The big jump is HDS8, the 10 and the 8 have nicer soft buttons than the 5 and 7.
