chasing mulloway

Ok, three weeks until the annual family holiday to monkey mia.  In the eleven years we've been going there, we've nailed the pink snapper, the blue-lined emporer, the cod and the blue bone.  We've even found the spanish mackerel.

What i have never found are the mulloway.  Seen them caught off the beach east of the ramp at night time, but never seen one taken from a boat (mine or others).  But i read articles about catching mulloway boat based out from monkey mia.

What sort of grounds do they like to inhabit?  Same areas as pinks and cod and blue bone, or should i be looking for different habitats?

From the experience i had on denham side and other photos ive seen the one thing that is consistent is big sandy drop-offs, just like the beach east of the ramp.

5 klms, heading 325 deg. go out late and stayed out till midnight.

You can hear them crocking, they love live bait or mullies.

Have caught plenty in the above area.

Little Johnny or Little Andy. They can croak the language.
