Chidley Point last night

Gday all,

Went fishing last night, the plan was to go to Meads/Mosman Jetty.  The GF didnt get off work till later so by the time we got down there there were a few people fishing already.  We moved over to Chidley Point and had lines in the water by 7:20pm.  We had a few small bites over the course of the night but didnt catch any fish.

The chidley point jetty is not lit, so I think if we try there again we will go earlier to see any holes/snags etc, and will also take a gas lantern to attract any squid that may be in the area.

The interesting thing was that there were 3-4 blokes freediving around 9pm from the sandy beach at chidley pt.  This makes me keen to go for a dive ASAP to check if any of the mighy Blue Mannas are in the river yet.

Fishcrazy,  If I had been on time (before sundown) I probably would have chucked a few around.  I have not used them much before, but bought some starlo squidgies/Leadheads the other day.  How do they fair after dark though?

We were fishing with shelled river prawns or whitebait on size 8 Mustad longshank hooks with a running small ball sinker on the main line.  As I said, a couple of bites, but nothing serious.  It felt like with the whitebait on the uneven bottom that if you got a small snag, it would pull out but I would lose the bait.  Maybe I need to try some unweighted lines.
