Christmas Island

Well, I've finally found the time to post a quick snapshot of my latest trip to Christmas Island. I was lucky enough to tag along with my mate, Jayson, for 1 week in mid-September.

It was simply spectacular. The hospitality was excellent, the company was excellent, the fishing was excellent... the weather was 'fishable'.

Most days were quite windy, however, there was always a spot to fish around Christmas Island due to it's rugged geography.

Mark (the guide of Shorefire) was extremely friendly & helpful. Going far & beyond to ensure our stay was an experience we would never forget.

The popper fishing was excellent - the GT's weren't massive (biggest around the 20kg mark), however, the yellowfin tuna were in massive numbers & of good size (can't get enough of casting poppers & stickbaits at YFT) - we had a pack of sailfish following our poppers on the second day - Jayson had a stickbait snap in half on a good GT.

We threw poppers & stickbaits, only managed to jig a small amount of time (the wind was a problem, so we couldn't keep our mark for more than a few minutes - most of the good jigging spots were exposed to the wind). We also trolled from A to B to pick up a wahoo or 2 for dinner.

Anyway, it was a great trip. So good, I've already arranged time off for next years trip.

I've included a few pics.

Daz.

Thanks fellas,

I've got so many more pics of the GT's & yellowfin we caught.... but it would just cause too much jealousy out there Tongue out

One day, we landed about 10 YFT in half an hour. All good size fish.

Another day, we had 4 sailfish swim around the boat just casually playing with our poppers & stickbaits. Unreal.
