Cleaning

Hey guys. New to fibreglass. Is it on to use the gurney car wash setting to give it a clean down? Or too powerful? Have found when cleaning with the hose an still getting some dried salt.

cheers!

depending what size gurney. i would reckon so, just dont hold it to close and dont go hard where tehre is crazing or chips as it can flake off like paiint. maybe use a bit more detergent when washing and let it soak in a bit more or scrub a bit harder. teh stains could also be calcium in the fresh water depending where you are washing your boat.

Then you wont have to wash too hard next time and the saltwater will come off easy with a normal hose spray.

ONE GOOD WASH

Sun, 2020-03-29 22:56

Wash is to get the original dirt off only ,wax and polish is to put a protective coating on the glass .
After that just do very light washes can Mr sheen clears and light detergent for canopy's with a good rinse of freshwater ,get all detergent out of canopy's.
I keep a tarp over canopy to keep UV rays off for it to have a longer life.If you close it to store ,dry in open poss first. No need to wax below water line as saltwater will rip the wax straight off hull.
Avoid running boat up on sand .
Polish with wax throughout the year as req ,when water stops beading on fiberglass.
CLR for rust stains and re wash and wax.

 I use pressure washer with

I use pressure washer with snow cannon and boat soap after every use. Presta boat soap breaks down salt and any fishblood left after raw water wash on the way in but any good car wash will do.

Polish once a year and try to wax 2-3 times a year keeps up the gloss on the gelocoat and stops shit from sticking making it easier to clean. Don't use morning fresh as it will strip the wax right off.
