clearer sounding

i was having problems with my sounder/transducer at high speeds getting a clear picture, i tried dropping the transducer down to stay in clear water but it didnt work and created rooster tails so i made up the hull extension bracket as the front edge of the transducer was about 80 mm behind the transom , the bracket is flat with bottom of the hull and ensures clean water to the face of the transducer

good
Good idea! Looks like you have a trailcraft, looking at that bracket. I think they put there bracket way to close to the motor. Ive had to put my transducer as far over as i could on mine, to get better picture at speed.

Paul - we were getting clear bottom at 30 knots yesterday with my 1kw on the furuno, Ryan will verify, must be a mounting prob, my old 600w read pretty well up to 20k on the old tub

I have put the furuno in a couple of different spots ,also moved the cables to the port side of the boat ,and there is no change in picture at speed. I only have the 600w tranie so i guess i just have to try a few other things but at the end of the day when looking for ground im only doing 8knots with a perfect picture.

Ditto
My 585 sounds perfectly up to 30 knots (and beyond if the water is pretty flat), transducer positioning and angle to the hull and water stream are critical. A mate has a trailcraft and has all sorts of problems getting a good read on anything over 15 knots so perhaps it has something to do with steam turbulence or bubble formation.

this is the problem i was
this is the problem i was wondering about when fitting my n ew sounder.
1kw tranny and with the layout of the fury i onyl have 1 spot it can be mounted, thats right inbetween the 2 screws. Not sure how this will perform. Its where my current tranny is, but this is only a 600w little jobby not the big 1kw unit.
Have trim tabs on the side and a ladder out one side awswell, so unable to move out.
Trial and error i guess.

Bodie , my previous rig had twins and the best spot was right in the middle at the bottom of the vee , gave a perfect picture and no air bubbles
