Cockburn Sound

Heh guys,

Just bought my first boat and for first trip going to head out in Cockburn sound this weekend to try and get some squid.

Which is the best boat ramp for a beginner for heading out into the Sound.

Also any tips for where/how to catch squid in the Sound, would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Joycey,

The Woodmans Point ramp is easy to use as mentioned but can get a bit busy over the weekend.

Parmelia Bank is good for squid and so is out from the old Power station (Owens Anchorgae)

Take a good assortment of squid jigs in different colours and sizes. Squid can be found in different depths but for us lately the 4-7m depth has been good and the cleaner water (vis wise) is better.
