Try plastics up at north

Try plastics up at north point, chance of trout from shore or wading out and casting.

From north point around to the old jetty chance of GT on the flats. Old jetty is closed but fish still hang around in the right tides. Plenty of smaller trevally around here too and are fun on light gear and metal slices etc.

I’ve seen and casted at big wrasse from the beaches near the town facing out to sea, never had a follow though.

Ive had some luck at scout park in the mornings on an incoming tide. Trevally, barracouda etc

Of course, seen a few big bluefin trevally and decent GTs chasing bait at north point and scout park when having a wade or swim with the kids, so plenty of right time and place opportunities.

Pretty tide dependent, I found slack tides pretty dead and rising tides about 2 hours from the top worked well for me. If all else fails, silveries can be caught pretty much everywhere on plastic bloodworms. I have used strips of silveries to catch sweetlip around the bottom of West Island.

If you can get out on a boat opportunities will open up even inside the lagoon too.

I took pe2, pe5 and pe8 spin set ups, had most luck on the pe5 combo. Even used it trolling in the lagoon - couldn’t get away from ok size coral trout
