5 fingers
Squid are on at the moment in the north west, plenty of the boys killling it in Exxy.
Not so much pinkies, more likely spanglies. Head south towards five fingers a couple kms south of the ramp and look for broken ground, similar to your squid country. As always, watch for the sanctuary zones. Ive been told that north of Mauds between Boorabajoo (spelling) is pretty good, but never tried it.

be careful
crossing south passage in a rooftop tinny. like a washing machine sometimes with outgoing tide meeting incoming swells.
